An allegation of forcible land acquisition has been made against a leader of the farmers’ party in North Muradia Char of Dumki Upazila of Patuakhali district.

Kabir Hussain Sharif alleged that he and his relatives, along with 14 record owners and people who had been settled by the government, took about 45 acres of land on lease for three years.He was preparing for watermelon cultivation. He alleged that a group of influential land robbers with the help of Upazila Farmers Party Joint Convener Ghulam Mortuza prevented them from entering their land and threatened to kill them. In this regard, Kabir Sharif filed a written complaint against the accused in the Dumki police station. It is said in the complaint, North Muradia village. Mustafa Howlader, Idris Howlader, Abdul Jabbar Mir and ChalemanSeveral people including Mir had forcibly occupied the land before. Recently they again tried to grab the land and took away Kabir Sharif’s tractor and vehicle parts.
Golam Mortuza, the joint convener of the upazila former farmers’ party, said about the complaint, “I am not involved in any encroachment or threat.” Land owners are occupying their land. On the other hand, the accused Mustafa Howladar said that Kabir Sharif is not the owner of the land. He did not pay the leaseOwners lease land to others. Now he is arranging plays.
