Bangladesh General Insurance Company Ltd. 20th death anniversary of M. A. Samad, founder of (BGIC), one of the pioneers of the insurance industry in Bangladesh, internationally recognized, eminent insurance personality. MA Samad has a distinguished career as Managing Director of State-owned Life Insurance Corporation.After retiring from the first non-life insurance company in the private sector in 1985, Bangladesh General Insurance Company Ltd. (BGIC) established. Originally a legend in life insurance, he has made outstanding contributions to the field of general insurance. He was the founder, entrepreneur-director of Bangladesh Insurance Academy and former chairman of Bangladesh Insurance Association. He is life insurance in Bengali and EnglishHe has written three books on above and one book on general insurance, which is widely appreciated at home and abroad. He is listed as an international expert in the United Nations Technical Assistance Program on Trade and Development. He has traveled to various countries including United Kingdom, USA for fellowship related programs in aviation industry under UNDP. MA Samad was born on January 1, 1923 in Kulaura, Moulvibazar districtBorn in a noble Muslim family. His wife Fawzia Samad was the lifetime chairperson of Ladies Club. His privileged son Mr. Towhid Samad is currently serving as the Chairman of BGIC. MA Samad was an accomplished student in his academic career. In 1945He received his BA degree with honors from Presidency College, Calcutta. After that, he worked as a Bengali news announcer and translator for All India Radio in New Delhi. MA Samad’s relationship with Bengali literature and culture is also very close. During his stay in Chittagong, he was the General Secretary of Chittagong Kristi Kendra for many days. After the country division, he transferred from All India Radio in New Delhi to Radio Pakistan in Dhaka.He became and was appointed in charge of Bengali news department.
