
Two killed, at least 20 injured in bus overturn in Khagrachari

Two people were killed when a passenger bus overturned in Khagrachari. At least 20 passengers were injured in the incident. The accident took place at Sapmara area of Khagrachari-Dhaka Regional Road at around 11:30 on Friday (October 17).
According to the police, a Chittagong-bound Shanti Paribahan bus from Baghaichhari in Rangamati went down the hill after crossing the Sapmara police check post.Time is out of control. One person was killed on the spot and at least 15 to 20 people were injured. Later, the body of another person was recovered from under the bus during the rescue operation.
On receiving information, Matiranga Fire Service and Police with the help of locals rescued the injured and sent them to Matiranga Upazila Health Complex and Khagrachari District Headquarters Hospital.
Matiranga Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kazi Wazed Ali said, “RangamatiA Shanti Paribahan bus bound for Chittagong from Baghaichari lost control and overturned. Two people died on the spot. Rescue operations are underway, details will be communicated later.”
Police said that the identity of the deceased is not yet known.
It should be noted that accidents often occur in this part of the Khagrachari-Dhaka regional road due to the high curves.
