Inauguration of football tournament
Aiming to create a drug-free society, a football tournament has been inaugurated in memory of the four martyrs from Durgapur upazila of Netrakona in the July uprising. Upazila BNP organizing secretary Jamal Uddin Master inaugurated the game at Birishiri GBC ground on Monday (October 20) afternoon.
Central BNP Legal Affairs SecretaryUnder the overall management of Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Durgapur Union XI vs Bakaljora Union XI faced off in the inaugural match between seven unions and one municipality. Due to the lack of goals in the scheduled time, the match was made into a tiebreaker. Bakaljora Union XI won the tiebreaker 5-4.
Thousands of football fans including upazila, municipality and union BNP and its organizational leaders and activists were present at this time. Knockout systemThis participation game will continue till October 28. The game will conclude with semi-finals followed by finals.
BNP leaders and activists said, barrister Kaiser Kamal has organized this tournament to remember the sacrifice of 4 martyrs Umar Farooq, Zakir Hossain, Saiful Islam Sekul and Masum Billah of Durgapur and to rid the society of drugs forever and to instill the spirit of sports among the young generation.
