A meeting of the delegation of Jamaat-e-Islami was held with the Honorable Chief Adviser.
On October 22 (Wednesday) at 6 o’clock in the evening, the Honorable Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami with Muhammad Yunus former MP Dr. A delegation of 4 members led by Syed Abdullah Md. Taher met at the Rashtriya Guest House Jamuna. Secretary of the organization was also present in this delegation of JamaatGeneral Former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana ATM Machum and Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan. The meeting was held in a cordial and cordial atmosphere.
After the meeting Dr. Syed Abdullah Md. Taher said in a short press briefing, “We have already signed the July National Charter with various political parties. July National Charter was signed by Honorable Chief Adviser JamaatThanks to Islami. We have said – now it is necessary to implement it on a legal basis. In this charter, the issues related to the elections should be passed in advance and the national elections should be held based on them. The Honorable Chief Adviser agreed with us and said, “If the National Charter is not implemented in July, then all our efforts are nothing but in vain.” He said, “I will take appropriate initiatives to implement it.”
We are moreI said, it should be given constitutional status through an order. It is not the Constitution. It is an extra-constitutional arrangement; Which a government has the power to give in such a situation. He agreed with us that it would be through an order. All suggested that it should be legalized by an order. And the referendum will be held on that order. We have said it clearly.Dr. disagreed about the issuance of the ordinance on July charter. Syed Abdullah Taher said the ordinance is very weak. The Ordinance does not have the strength to give them constitutional status. But order is equivalent to constitutional change in terms of power and authority. We sat with our expert committee. Our expert committee again sat with the consensus commission’s expert committee. Everyone is heresuggested that it should be legalized by means of an order. And the referendum will be on that order. We have been saying it clearly. It appears to us that he has agreed with us. We hope he will go that way.
The second thing is that BNP was not agreeing at first about the referendum. We emphasized it. Finally, BNP has agreed to the referendum. We thank BNP.Then BNP is trying to create a complication. That is the referendum and the national election should be held in one day. Two completely different things. One is the decision of how to run the government in the country after the people’s representatives are elected in the national elections. And the referendum, how many of our reforms; That is how the government will be run, how the elections will be fair, how the power of the prime minister will be these basic issues. Along with the national electionsThere is no relation. That is why we have said that the reforms should be passed through a referendum. If the people said yes, it passed. It will not pass if the people say no. And if yes, the election should be given based on that. If it is not, it will be selected minus it.
He said that there were two referendums in Bangladesh, one was held in a gap of 17 days, another was held in a gap of 21 days. We have said, for the referendum at the end of November. Then another two and a halfThe month will be for national elections. So there is no time problem here.
He also said, the third complication is note of descent or point of descent. We discussed with 31 parties, out of which 29 parties almost agreed – that was the main decision. Now if the two parties say they don’t agree, that’s not a nullity; Rather it is a note of dissent or disagreement with the decision. Referendum is based on the opinion of one or two partiesIt is not right to call or demand a new decision. These are the processes of creating unnecessary complications, which we want to avoid to move in the right direction.
He said, a free, fair, acceptable and participatory election is essential for us. It is creating many complications to destabilize the country. That is why we should behave in such a way that we all can go to the elections in February in a joyful atmosphere without creating any kind of complicationsI am calling on all political parties for this.
We also said that you know about 70% to 80% officers in Election Commission, Secretariat, Police Administration and all important places are loyal to one party. We said you are like a caretaker government, you play a neutral role, create a level playing field. Make changes where needed. He is usHe said that he himself will supervise and fix the posting in the lottery system. We have no objection to this. But it should be seen that there is no ghost standing behind the lottery.
