In Patuakhali Varsity, newly constructed bus-shed cracks before inauguration: Quality of work questioned.

A slab in front of the newly constructed bus-shed at Patuakhali University of Science and Technology (Pabiprabi) Barisal campus has collapsed before its inauguration. There has been a strong reaction among students and concerned about the quality and transparency of the construction due to the breaking of the slab and the creation of holes. According to university sources, TinerAbout 14 lakh rupees was allocated for the construction of this bus-shed with canopy. However, due to the collapse of the slab before the inauguration, the quality of the project has been questioned. Weak concrete, broken and rusted rod pieces strewn at the site are seen as evidence of the use of substandard construction materials.
In this regard, several students of the university said, “Such a consequence of the new establishment is alarming. This is the standard for other construction projects in the futureIt is also causing doubt.”
After the incident, the concerned authorities have started the work of rebuilding the slab. When contacted, Abdul Halim, the contractor, said, “Usually there is an instruction not to use for 27 days after the completion of construction work. But one side of the slab has been damaged due to the movement of heavy goods trucks.”
About the complaint of using low quality bricks, he said, “In the beginning some old brickswas used. However, it was stopped after receiving the complaint. Professor Dr. Ahsanur Reza, convenor of the monitoring committee, said, “As soon as we know that low quality bricks are being used, we do not have quick measures, we stop the work.” On the question of the slab breaking, he said, “We will arrange to fix it very soon.
