Protest march of students and crowd in DU to protest against the obstruction of army camp at Lakshmichari in Khagrachari.
The leaders and activists of the students' unit of the Sovereignty Protection Council formed a human chain at the foot of the Raju sculpture of Dhaka University on Tuesday afternoon, October 28 (2025), to protest against the establishment of an army camp in Lakshmichari of Khagrachari and the occupation of government land by tribal extremists.Hundreds of students marched in protest.
Justice Abdus Salam Mamun was present as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Lt. Col. Faridul Akbar and moderated by Jalal Ahmad.
Dhaka University teacher Professor Md. Arif Billah, Lt. Col. Ferdous Aziz, Lt. Col. (retd.) Hasinur Rahman spoke at this time.
Major (Retd) Mizanur Rahman, Retd, Major (Retd) Rezaul Hannan Shaheen, Job Reform MovementConvener and Dhaka University student Jalal Ahmad,
Central Organizing Secretary of Chittagong Hill Tracts Students' Parishad Russell Mahmud, Convener of Manch Chabish Duke Huda, Convener of Movement for Palestine of Bangladesh Harunur Rashid Khan, Central Leader of Gana Odhikar Parishad Dr. Mo Imran Hossain, National Labor Party Spokesperson Shariful Islam along with leaders of various political parties.
The leaders of the human chain said,"The state extremist armed terrorist organization UPDF is preventing the establishment of army camp at Burmachari of Lakshmichari upazila of Khagrachari. Because the area is the base of UPDF. From here the extremists conduct all the terrorist activities in the area. The area has terrorist weapons godowns and training camps. Weapons training and armed exercises are conducted openly from here. The area is inaccessible.Terrorists have the opportunity to safely carry out anti-national activities. We have been demanding the establishment of an army camp and strengthening of security in the area for a long time.
Speakers also said, "Terrorists will not be able to carry out anti-national activities if an army camp is established in the area." So UPDF terrorists have lost sleep. They are innocent mountaineers, women and children of their own houses to prevent the establishment of an army camp in this placeIt has lashed out against the state and security forces. The UPDF terrorists submitted a memorandum to the GOC of 24 Infantry Division not to set up an army camp in the area. The reasons given against the army camp in the memorandum are completely absurd and ridiculous. It has been said that if the army camp is established, there will be insecurity and fear in the movement of monks in Bihar. Their claim is completely justified.Reality is alienated. Because if army camps are established in remote and inhabited areas of terrorists, security will be increased and movement of terrorists will be stopped. Buddhist monks will be able to travel to Bihar freely and without fear”.
At that time, the chief coordinator of the Sovereignty Protection Council, Mustafa Al Ihaz, said, "In 1884, the British government created 3 circles for the purpose of governance and revenue collection of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. 1892In 2010, this Act was partially amended to create a total of 4 circles including 1 new circle called Forest Circle. At that time Reserve Forest Circle was created to preserve the land of Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Reserve Forest Circle was under the control of the British Government Forest Department. Not only that, in the 1900 Constitution, the subjects of crime suppression, peace maintenance and control, criminal and civil justice system etc. were British. It was under the jurisdiction of the ruler. The Circle Chief was empowered to manage land and collect revenue of only 3 circles under the supervision of a Deputy Commissioner. A person appointed to collect revenue can never have full jurisdiction to own or transfer land. It does not appear to have been recognized in any way even in the 1884 Act. In 1884, the circle chiefs illegally used the powers given by the British government to the hill lands.Thousands of acres of land were settled in the name of the tribes after expelling the Bengali population. We demand cancellation of all land settlements settled since 1884 till date”.
Addressing the countrymen, he also said, "In 1929, India recognized the Chittagong Hill Tracts as a completely ungovernable area. In this, the tribals faced a crisis of identity and survival of their ethnicity. freedomLater, Bangladesh recognized the tribes and returned their self-identity. Nevertheless, the tribal terrorists of Chittagong Hill Tracts continued to conspire to destroy the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh at the instigation of India. In continuation of that, slogans of "Sena Hathao, Bengali Hathao" are being raised from Chittagong Hill Tracts as part of the conspiracy. 6 armed organizations together are ruining the country's reputation in the international arena. We do not want to hear any slogans against the army in Chittagong Hill Tracts. By constructing border roads in the border areas of Chittagong Hill Tracts, barbed wire fences should be built on the border and operations should be conducted against terrorists by continuing 24-hour surveillance with the help of drones. To protect the integrity of the country and to kill the seditious armed extremists, at least one in each mauza of the districts without delay.Army camp should be established. A specialized 'Mountain Division' of the Army should be formed to protect the hilly areas like neighboring countries India and Nepal".
Mostafa Al Ihyaz also said, "Within the next 7 days, I am calling to suppress terrorism in the Barmachhari area and start the work of setting up an army camp in Shuknachhari village. Immediate “eviction drive” against encroachers of state-owned land and reserved forest areasI strongly demand to recover all state lands by management. Otherwise there will be a strong movement against the occupiers with the patriotic population.”
A protest march was held after the human chain. The protest march started from Raju Bhaskar and ended at Shah Bagh. At this time, hundreds of students participated in the protest march.
