Chittagong’s Trinamool businessmen’s main problem is VAT and income tax – this was said by the panel leader of the combined business council in Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry elections. S. M. Nurul Haque said, “Every organization is under undue pressure from the VAT office. Businessmen also face various complications regarding income tax. If we get an opportunity, we will bring a member of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to the Chittagong Chamber and take the initiative to solve the problems of the businessmen.”
He further said, “There is a lot of space in the Chittagong Chamber office at the World Trade Center in Chittagongis empty We will build a data analysis center there, so that information on import-export, supply chain and market demand is easily available. Besides, a floor will be allocated for AI (Artificial Intelligence) research, so that the new generation can work in tandem with modern technology.”
Shajahan Mohiuddin, convener of Chittagong Business Council presided over the meeting. He said, “Chittagong is of the countryThe heart of commerce. If the development of industries, ports, communication and investment sectors is accelerated, the face of the national economy will change.”
Special negotiator S. M. Fazlul Haque said, “Chittagong is the main revenue center of the country. But there is not enough investment in infrastructure development here. The port and industry income should be allocated directly for the development of Chittagong.”
In the meeting BGMEA, BKMEA, C&F Association, Khatunganj, Teribazar,Leaders of various organizations including Tamakundilain, Greater Chowkbazar, Jubilee Road and Riazuddin Bazar Traders Association spoke.
The speakers called for the formation of a unified business platform for the overall development of Chittagong and to protect the interests of businessmen.
