Nabiganj cloth merchant's car robbery: two robbers arrested in Chunarughat raid by RAB
RAB-9 has arrested two robbers in connection with the robbery of a cloth merchant's car in Habiganj's Nabiganj. On Tuesday (October 29), a special raid team of RAB-9, CPC-3, Shaestaganj camp conducted a raid in the new bridge area of Ubahata union of Chunarughat upazila and arrested them.
According to RAB, on the night of October 18, approxAround 1:30 a cloth merchant in Sylhet's Biyanibazar. Niaz Uddin was robbed on his way back to his locality after buying clothes and other goods from Baburhat in Narsingdi. When he reached Sataihal area under Habiganj police station on Dhaka-Sylhet highway, a red colored DI pickup van came in front of his car and blocked his way.
Five armed robbers in a pickup got out of the car and took Niaz Uddin and his two accomplices hostage at home-made weapons.by doing Later, after beating and intimidating them, the robbers looted goods worth around 328,600 rupees, including cash, mobile phones and clothes, and fled to the south.
In this incident, the victim Niaz Uddin filed a robbery case (No-17, dated 20/10/2025, Section 395/397 Penal Code 1860) at Nabiganj police station as a plaintiff.
RAB-9 said that after the case, they were carrying out shadow investigation and intelligence activities. In continuation of this, TuesdayTwo accused were arrested during the raid.
The arrested are- Mizanur Rahman alias Ramzan (25), father deceased Samchu Mia, village Bagerkhal, police station Bahubal, district Habiganj; and Asad Mia (35), father Shukkur Ali, village Lakshipur, police station Nasirnagar, district Brahmanbaria.
According to RAB, the arrested have been handed over to Nabiganj police station. RAB's intelligence activities are continuing to arrest other absconding accused in the casehas
