The child was playing around the house on Friday afternoon. He was nowhere to be found since dusk. The relatives of the child searched in different places throughout the night but could not find anything.

On Thursday afternoon, Hanif Mia, a local resident, saw the child’s body floating in the water while cutting bamboo at the pond. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the dead body. Later, the body was sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

Locals believe that the child was murdered after being raped. Then, to cover up the incident, a rope was tied around the child’s neck, a large stone was tied to the rope and thrown into the pond.

Adibar’s father Abu Hanif said,

“I work in Dhaka, so I sometimes come to the village house. I was at home on the day of the incident. Adiba is always with me; but I could not take her to the market that day as she was unwell. In the afternoon, I heard that Adiba did not return home after playing. Since then, I have been searching. People were also lowered into the water from the pond where the body was recovered – but nothing was found. I want no father’s chest to be empty. Let the administration find my daughter’s murderer.” provides exemplary punishment.”

The child’s body was recovered from Simanarpar village under Comilla’s Bangrabazar police station on Thursday afternoon.
