6 killed including college students in Noakhali truck, truck driver arrested

The police arrested the truck driver Abdur Jaher (40) in the incident in which 6 people, including the CNG-powered auto-rickshaw driver and the passenger, were killed when a truck ran over them in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali.

On Tuesday (November 4) around 6:30 in the evening, he was arrested in front of Chishtia Darbar Sharif of Narottampur Union of Upazila. Earlier, same dayThe accident took place on the road in front of Alia Madrasa on the Kabirhat to Basurhat road of the upazila around 2:15.

The detained Abdur Jaher is the son of Mosleh Uddin of Tita Mia Pandit village of East Charshita village of ward number 8 of Charbadam union of Lakshipur district.

The deceased are Khorshed Alam Khokon, a resident of Ward No. 9 of Basurhat Municipality, Companyganj, an auto-rickshaw driver, Tanim Hasan, a third-year student of Noakhali College, and Israt, a student.Jahan, Bibi Kulsum, Jannat and Md. Suman.

According to police and local sources, a CNG passenger train left for Basurhat with 5 passengers from district town Maijdi around 1 pm on Tuesday. On the way, when the CNGT reached in front of Alia Madrasa on Kabirhat to Basurhat road of Ward No. 2 of Kabirhat Upazila, the front axle of the CNG lost control and went to the opposite side of the road. At that time the opposite directionThe truck coming from the CNG hit the passenger and dragged it for at least 200 meters. 4 passengers including the CNG driver died on the spot. Later, 2 people were rescued and taken to 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital where doctors on duty declared them dead. About 2 hours after the accident, the accused truck driver was arrested in front of Chishtia Darbar Sharif of Narottampur Union of Upazila, Kabirhat.police station

Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shaheen Mia said, the police operation to arrest the truck driver has not yet arrived. Four bodies were recovered and brought to the police station. The other two bodies are in the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital. The body will be handed over to the family after post-mortem.
