Primary teachers strike in Kotalipara
Gopalganj's Kotalipara government primary school teachers are on a strike to protest the implementation of three-point demands including salary in the tenth grade and the police attack on teachers in Shahbagh.

Moushumi Akhter Swarna, assistant teacher of government primary school attached to Uttarpara Madrasa No. 49, said, "We have been suffering from pay discrimination for a long time. Primary school assistant teachers should be paid in 10th grade. Higher grades should be given on completion of 10 and 16 years of joining the service and 100% guarantee of departmental promotion. Our agitation will continue until our demands are met."

General Secretary of Kotalipara Upazila Branch of Bangladesh Primary School Assistant Teachers Association Oliullah Howladar said, "Teachers are not paid so low in any country in the world.
