In Comilla’s Brahmanpara upazila, a sack of Indian firecrackers dropped by smugglers fell under the train and exploded. Hundreds of passengers narrowly avoided a major accident. The incident took place on Monday (November 10) evening on the railway line adjacent to Raychat Ali Fakir shrine in Pitambar area of Burichong upazila.
According to local sources,Every day a group of smugglers smuggle various illegal Indian goods through Chattala Express and Nasirabad trains via Saldandi and Shasidal railway stations. On that evening, after receiving information about the operation led by the magistrate at Sadar Rasulpur railway station, the smugglers hurriedly left the Chittagong-bound Chattla Express and threw the bagged goods out of the train. The train jolted violently during the explosion and passengers started screaming in panic. However, as the train was in motion, the fire did not spread, thus hundreds of passengers were saved from a major accident.

In this regard, Sadar Rasulpur Station Master Prosenjit Chakraborty said that the explosion happened during the raid on Chattla Express led by Magistrate Sanwar Jahan on Monday evening. However, there was no major damage.
