
Vigilant police-vehicle search intensified on Burichong highway
Due to the ‘lockdown’ program announced by the Awami League, the police are on extra alert on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Comilla’s Burichong upazila since Thursday morning. since morning
A strict surveillance of law and order forces was observed in the entire area under the leadership of Burichong Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Azizul Haque.
Especially from Korpai area of Mokam UnionStarting from Mainamati Union to Nazira Bazar, police are seen taking positions at various junctions, bus stands, bridges and important entrances of the highway. Checkposts have been set up at every intersection, where suspicious vehicles including passenger buses, trucks, microbuses and motorcycles are searched. Also RAB, DB and plainclothes policemen are patrolling the road.
In the search operation from morning to noonApart from the police, RAB members were also seen participating. They are checking passengers’ identity cards, opening bags and luggage. Some suspected motorcyclists and persons were stopped and questioned.
The law and order forces said that this operation and search measures have been taken with the aim of preventing any kind of untoward incident, sabotage or conflict.
OC Mohammad Azizul Haque said, “Roads and public safetyWe are on the highest alert. Strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to create disturbance or obstruct traffic.”
Along with the police, RAB and DB teams are also on the ground. Surveillance has been strengthened through CCTV cameras in important areas. Besides, the white-clad members have also taken strategic positions so that immediate action can be taken in any situation.
Police administration to common peopleIt called for responsible behavior. They said, “Security has been beefed up in and around the highway only for the safety of the people. Stay calm and don’t listen to rumours.”
