A strike and sit-in program was held in Dumki upazila of Patuakhali district demanding the speedy implementation of the Family Welfare Assistant (FWA) recruitment rules. On Wednesday (December 3) at 10 a.m.The program was organized by the family welfare assistants and inspectors at the planning office premises. The participants in the program said that it is very important to implement the recruitment rules, which have been pending for a long time.
They also said that for many years, the main focus of the Department of Family Planning has been population control, community clinics, safe delivery services during pregnancy, neonatal and postnatal care, and adolescent reproduction.They have been providing door-to-door services for maternal and child health protection including health, nutrition and immunization. Despite playing such an important role, they still have no permanent appointment rules, which is very disappointing.
They claim that the proposed recruitment rules of 2024 are fair and fundamental rights of employees. If it is not implemented soon, they warned of a larger movement after December 11.
