Shutdown of primary teachers in Durgapur continues, students in trouble

According to the central agenda for the realization of three-point demands, the shutdown agenda is still going on in 126 primary schools of Durgapur Upazila of Netrakona. Annual examinations of various schools are closed. On Thursday (December 4) morning, visiting various schools in the upazila, such a picture was seen.

The assistant teachers who are working without taking the annual examination of the school have surrounded the Upazila Parishad premises with the Upazila Executive Officer and the Upazila Education Officer and informed that they will continue their agitation until their demands are met.

Student parent Dildar Hossain said that the demands of the teachers are reasonable. However, it is by no means desirable to hold the young students hostage. We request the teachers thinking about the future of our children, at least keep the exams going.

Teacher leader Shafiqul Islam said, “There will be no dialogue-notice will be given” and the strike of the assistant teachers of the government primary schools has been going on for a few days due to the three-point demand. If the government accepts our demand, then we will remove the temporary problem with the examination of the students even on the day of closure. And if the demand is not accepted, then we will continue our movement.

Another teacher, Mojibur Rahman Liton, said that the government has started playing tricks on us. I will no longer believe in hanging radishes. I have heard many comforting words, many teachers have shed blood, many teachers have been injured and even died. If notification is not issued accepting our logical demands, we will continue our agitation.

Upazila Education Officer. Fazlur Rahman said, I have requested the assistant teachers to at least keep the examination process going. Some schools have started taking the test and in many schools the assistant teachers have refrained from taking the test. I have ordered to continue the examination program in all schools.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Afroza Afsana said that there is a government notification about taking the exam excluding the movement.I have already informed the teachers who are in the movement. Examination is being conducted in many primary schools of the district. Parents came to me to keep the examination process going. I have instructed the headmasters of various schools to continue the examination.
