In 54 years, the country did not get its own air ambulance. Mehdi Hasan
Even after 54 years of independence Bangladesh has not yet been able to buy its own state air ambulance, General Secretary of Pravasi Swajan Foundation Bangladesh and senior journalist SM Mehedi Hasan has expressed his anger and frustration.
He said, "Even today when a former prime minister of the nation has to borrow another country's air ambulance to take him abroad - it is a shameful reality for independent Bangladesh."
Images of corruption, money laundering and state failure
Mehdi Hasan complained, "Thousands of crores of rupees have been smuggled abroad through corruption in Bangladesh. Those who come to power become owners of thousands of crores of rupees overnight. But not even an air ambulance has been bought for the emergency treatment of the people of the country!"
He also mentioned - "832 loads of gold were found in the bank locker of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina - which is a brutal example of looting the hard-earned wealth of the common people of the country. The question is - did the freedom fighters imagine this future of this country?"
Accusations of looting against the former rulers
The Pravasi Swajan Foundation leader said — "Past rulers have looted the country. State assets, banks, projects—everything has been depleted through corruption. Even the current rulers have serious allegations of money laundering against many."
He claimed that due to the continuation of this corruption, the most essential equipment of the country's emergency health system - air ambulance - is not owned by the state.

The air ambulance can take Khaleda Zia on Saturday evening or night itself.
BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan said-
"As the previous air ambulance sent by the Qatari royal family developed a technical fault, another air ambulance is being sent as promised by Amy."
A symbol of state incompetence—Mehdi's opinion
SM Mehdi Hasan said with anger - "Governments that could not even take basic preparations like buying an air ambulance - how will they provide security to the people of the country? Even if we cannot buy an air ambulance in all these years, then the moral right to run the state is questionable."He also said - "Even in a country of 17 crores like Bangladesh, the top infrastructure of emergency treatment is dependent on the kindness of other countries - it is important to change this reality."
