Clash in Rupganj based on Facebook comments, 1 injured, 5 injured

Clashes, shootings and looting took place between two parties at 11 pm on Sunday night in Rasulpur area of Tarab Municipality of Rupganj, Narayanganj based on offensive comments on Facebook posts. 5 people including Shahidul alias Dakat Shahidul were injured. Shahidul, who was shot, has been admitted to Dhaka Medical.

It is known that when Mahim Miraj made offensive comments on Sakibul Hasan’s Facebook post about becoming a member of the Human Rights Commission, the quarrel started between the two parties. At one stage, both sides clashed with pistols and indigenous weapons. During this time, several houses including Sakibul’s house were vandalized and looted.Tariqul Islam, OC of Rupganj police station, said that the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. A case will be taken against both parties in this incident.
