OC Feroz Uddin Chowdhury made this motto into reality – police is the people, people are the police
Noakhali’s Chatkhil Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Uddin Chowdhury has passed away. On Saturday (December 06) he officially handed over responsibility from Chatkhil police station.
After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in a student-led coup on August 5 last year, the law and order situation collapsed in Chatkhil like the rest of the country. A burnt out police station building, vehicle-less conditions, scared and demoralized policemen—all in all it was a tough challenge. In that situation, Feroz Uddin Chowdhury joined Chatkhil Police Station as Officer-in-Charge on 30 August 2024.
After assuming charge, he found a completely dilapidated police station—there were no chairs, tables, pens, cars, or even accommodation for the officer-force. His first challenge was to reorganize demoralized policemen and bring law and order under control.
Gradually, he narrowed the distance between the police and the people and gave reality to the motto “Police is the people, people are the police”. This officer worked tirelessly to improve the infrastructure of the police station and normalize the law and order situation with the help of the local people. Under his leadership, the security system of Chatkhil police station became stronger, the crime level decreased, and the area returned to normalcy.
On his departure, common people of Chatkhil, public representatives and people of various classes and professions are expressing gratitude and good wishes on social media. Many say that his contribution in bringing order and confidence back to Chatkhil police station will be remembered.
Locals think that Feroz Uddin Chowdhury handed over the responsibility after more than one year of dedicated service to Chatkhil; He left a shining example of responsibility.
When asked about his farewell feelings, Feroz Uddin Chowdhury said, “I was posted to Chatkhil police station on 29 September 2025 in the changed circumstances of last August 5. After joining on 30 August 2024, I found the police station in a ruined state. There was no equipment, no environment, and even morale. On the one hand, maintaining law and order, on the other hand, I had to focus on both sides.I tried my best with the help of the people of Chatkhil. If there is any success, full credit goes to the people of Chatkhil, my colleagues and higher authorities. failure isThat’s mine. I got everyone’s support during my 1 year 2 months 7 days work. Thanks and gratitude to all. I left Chatkhil police station today. Be well dear residents of Chatkhil Upazila.”
