In the month of victory, the brave freedom fighter and his wife were killed in Rangpur!
Bloody bodies of a brave freedom fighter and his wife have been recovered from their house in Taraganj of Rangpur. This brutal twin murder took place in North Rahimapur village of Kursha Union of the upazila sometime during the day and night of Saturday. The deceased are retired headmaster and freedom fighter Yogesh Chandra Roy (75) and his wife Subarna Roy (60).
On Sunday (December 7) at 7:30 in the morning, there was no response at Yogesh Chandra Roy's house, and the family caretaker Deepak Chandra Roy suspected for a long time. Neighbors finally entered the house by climbing the ladder after not getting any response after calling the people around.
They were shocked when they entered. The frozen body of freedom fighter Yogesh Chandra Roy was found in the dining room of the house, and the bloody body of his wife Subarna Roy was found in the kitchen. Later the main gate of the house was opened and the police was informed.
Eyewitness Deepak Chandra Roy said, 'I have been taking care of my grandfather (Yogesh Chandra Roy) for about 40-50 years. I come every morning. Today I entered through the ladder and saw this terrible scene without getting any response.
Yogesh Chandra Roy retired in 2017 as the head teacher of a government primary school. In personal life, he is the father of two children. His elder son Shoven Chandra Roy is in Joypurhat and younger son Rajesh Khanna Chandra Roy is working in police department in Dhaka. In the absence of children, the old couple lived alone in this village house.
Taraganj Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Monabbar Hossain, Freedom Fighter Commander Ali Hossain and police officers rushed to the spot after receiving the news.
Expressing his anger in this incident, the freedom fighter commander Ali Hossain gave an ultimatum and said, 'Within the next 24 hours, those involved in this brutal murder should be identified and brought under the law. Otherwise, we will be forced to take drastic action.
