Torch procession in Uttara to protest the attack on July fighters
A torch march was held in the capital's Uttara to protest the attack on July fighters. On Sunday (December 14) evening, the procession started from in front of Uttara Sector 6 Public School, went around House Building area and ended at BNS area.
Leaders and activists from various levels of the organization including Saiful Islam Kajal, chief organizer of July Revels, were present in the torch procession. Saiful Islam Kajal, in a brief speech after the rally, complained that Awami League's deputy Uttara Paschim Thana Sramik League leader Altaf came to the temporary office of July Revels and attacked July fighters in a planned manner. In this attack, several people were injured, including July warrior Redwan.
He said, "How the ghosts of Awami League have the courage to attack the office of the organization even after the July war is very worrying. Those involved in this attack should be brought under the law and exemplary punishment should be ensured."
Speakers from the procession demanded speedy treatment and ensuring safety of the injured. At the same time, the administration was urged to take immediate legal action against the attackers. Speakers said, no one can get away with carrying out terrorist activities under the guise of political identity. The attack on the July fighters is an attack on the democratic spirit.
A large number of activists including leaders of various units of the Jodha organization participated in the torch procession on July 24. They raised various slogans protesting the attack and demanded justice through peaceful programmes.
The organizers said,The program will continue until the attack is properly investigated and the culprits are punished.
