BNP Tributes at National Memorial on First Hour of Great Victory Day

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) paid deep respect to the martyred freedom fighters at Savar National Memorial on the first hour of Great Victory Day.

On Tuesday (December 16) with the sunrise in the morning, the leaders and activists of BNP at the central and Dhaka district level laid wreaths in memory of the best children of the nation.

Earlier in the morning, President Md. Sahabuddin and the chief advisor of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus paid tribute at the National Memorial. After the state program, when the memorial was opened to the general public, BNP leaders and activists paid their respects there.

Among the top leaders of BNP who were present during the tributes were—
Dr. standing committee member. Abdul Moin Khan, Mirza Abbas, Nazrul Islam Khan, Salahuddin Ahmed, Advisor to the Chairperson Aman Ullah Aman, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Agriculturalist Shamimur Rahman Shamim, Nipun Roy Chowdhury and other central and organizational leaders.

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas spoke to reporters after paying tribute. he said
“Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami played an anti-independence role in 1971 and they continue to do the same. But 24 cannot be compared to 1971.”

He also said,
“Jamaat has insulted the freedom fighters by calling Ghulam Azam and Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami as ‘sons of the sun’. This statement is tantamount to questioning the martyrs’ sacrifice.”

Mirza Abbas said, BNP will strongly resist any attempt to distort the history of the great liberation war. BNP will be as uncompromising in the future as in the past to protect the country’s freedom, sovereignty and the spirit of the liberation war.

At this time BNP leaders remembered the martyrs of the great liberation war with deep respect and democracy,He expressed his determination to work unitedly to establish national unity and people’s rights.
