Discussed anchor Nazneen Munni’s talk show was closed due to this reason

It has been alleged that some young people have threatened the authorities of the private television channel to remove the popular anchor Nazneen Munni from her job as Head of News of Global TV Bangladesh. Last December 21, 2025, this threat was given to the office of the channel located in Tejgaon of the capital in the name of Metropolitan Branch Committee of Katipay Anti-Discrimination Movement. They said, “If you don’t quit your job, offices like Prothom Alo-Daily Star will be burnt.”

In this regard, Nazneen Munni told Bapsnews at around 10:30 am last Thursday, “They did not tell me anything directly. But came to the office and threatened.
He said, ‘I do a show. Before that they stopped my show by phone. Perhaps they call the chairman sir. He wrote various rumors in various infamous newspapers and sent that link to him. Write whatever you want. Been doing this for several days. Then my show Asusual stopped.’

Nazneen Munni said, “I went to the United States on December 4. Return from there on December 17. I’m supposed to do a show after I come back. But I was not allowed to show anymore. I managed to do a show for a week before leaving for the US. Before that it was closed again. I mean I did it for two months, it was stopped again. I did it again for a week, then went to America. After returning from there, the show stopped.

As the reason for stopping the show, he said, “They made strange stories against me and sent them to the chairman. First simply said to drop. I said – why should I leave. Somehow calls him every day. But the chairman sir never told me. Just told me the condition of the country is very bad. You don’t do shows for days. If you do a show, you will get more attention. I said my way about it – why not. It’s nothing to hide. I work in a television. Journalists and anchors, people will see me. If there is any crisis in anchoring then you tell me that this is the problem. Whether verbal or speaking to someone’s support—then you can stop. My show is off for Who’s Giving What—how about that! Then he said, now there is no argument.Nazneen Munni said, “First he told me to announce the schedule. Then the situation will cool down and do nothing about it. Then I said – OK, but even after announcing the schedule, the show is not allowed. Then I wanted to know about it. Then it was said – there is a problem. Everyone will do it from the time they submit their nomination papers. In the meantime, he has settled as a host for the show. That’s when I realized that I will not be allowed to do the show again.

He said, ‘Last December 18, 2025, Prothom Alo and Daily Star were burnt. We were all upset about it. Then 21 December 7-8 people came to my office. But I don’t know anything about this. I may not have been in office or gone out. I was not told about it then. Next day I did normal office. Later in the evening I was informed about the matter. I was told, many boys were coming, they threatened. The office will burn.

Nazneen Munni said, ‘I left after the meeting with the reporters on the evening of 21 December 2025. Then the call came to MD sir. Some boys say they want to meet MD Sir. He asked them to come. Then they came 7-8 people. Entered MD’s room. They introduced themselves as the metropolitan branch committee of the anti-discrimination movement. When asked about the reason for coming, they said, they are sad for our Sharif Osman Hadi brother. The coverage of Hadi Bhai on your global TV was not good. We know it is the channel of MP of Awami League, but we do not say anything. Why are you keeping Nazneen Munni? He is a friend of Awami League. Then the MD said, how did he become a friend of Awami League. We took him with understanding. Then they said, he is a friend of Awami League. You will exclude him.

He said, “The office is sincere about me. The chairman and MD are constantly threatened about me from outside. Yet they stood by me. But in the end they couldn’t take it anymore. Because two days ago Daily Star and Prothom Alo were burnt.

Nazneen Munni posted on Facebook last Wednesday at 2:38 pm about a group of youth threatening. In that post, he wrote, ‘Metropolitan branch committee of anti-discrimination movement named 7-8 people came to my office and threatened to set fire to the office like Prothom Alo-Daily Star if I don’t leave the job.Nazneen Munni is currently working as Head of News of Global TV Bangladesh.
