Prof. Dr. SM Hemayet Jahan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Patuakhali University of Science and Technology, has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of the first woman Prime Minister of Bangladesh, symbol of uncompromising leadership, pioneer of democratic movement and Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Begum Khaleda Zia. In a condolence message, he said, a glorious, struggling and memorable chapter in the political history of Bangladesh has come to an end. Begum Khaleda Zia’s historic role in the restoration of parliamentary democracy, the anti-military movement and the development of women’s leadership as a three-time elected Prime Minister will forever be remembered in the nation’s history.
