Bill Gates has paid almost 8 billion dollars promised to ex-wife Melinda French Gates in 2024. This is a part of the 12.5 billion dollars, which he promised Melinda to work for the welfare of women and families. It is known that this money has been given to the Pivotal Philanthropies Foundation established by Melinda in 2022.
A spokesman for the foundation said Bill and Melinda had agreed to make the donation when Melinda Gates resigned from the foundation. That is, these funds are provided as part of a previous contract.
The $7.88 billion donation was revealed for the first time through new tax records, the New York Times reported. A Pivotal spokesperson said the rest of the money is due in 2025 or 2026 and the deal has been fully met.
Bill and Melinda announced their divorce in May 2021. During their 30 years of marriage, they jointly founded the Gates Foundation. They have two daughters and one son. Melinda resigned from the foundation three years after the divorce. Melinda said in a statement, 'I am extremely proud of the amazing work that the Gates Foundation is doing.
