Drug kingpin Rubel Islam arrested along with 210 pieces of Yaba in Birganj
A youth involved in yaba business has been arrested red-handed in a sting operation by the Narcotics Control Department in Dinajpur's Birganj. During the operation, 210 pieces of yaba tablets containing amphetamine, which were stored in the store for sale, were recovered, the estimated market value of which is around 63 thousand taka.
The operation was conducted in the Sujalpur Collegepara area of Birganj municipality on Saturday (27 December 2025) around 5:30 pm.
The name of the arrested accused is Md. Rubel Hossain (28). He is a resident of Sujalpur (Shantibagh) area of Ward No. 5 of Birganj Municipality.
According to the sources of the Directorate of Narcotics Control, a raiding party of 10 members led by Sub-Inspector of Dinajpur District Office, Md. Tahmudar Rahman, conducted an operation based on secret information. ASI Md Enayetul Haque along with concerned officers and members participated in the operation.
During the raid, the liquor and cigarette shop owned by the accused, located west of the Birganj sub-registry office, was surrounded. After searching the shop in the presence of two local witnesses, orange colored Yaba tablets were recovered from a plastic container hidden in a wooden rack at the back of the shop. The total weight of Yaba is found to be 21 grams by measuring on a digital scale.
The accused was arrested on the spot and legal action taken. Yaba samples have been collected for chemical testing along with preparation of seizure list. The recovered evidence is currently in departmental custody.
The Narcotics Control Department said that the arrested accused had been storing yaba in his shop for a long time for sale. A case has been filed against him at Birganj Police Station as per Schedule 10(a) of Section 36(1) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018. The investigation of the case by the Narcotics Control Directorate,Dinajpur district office will manage.
