Housewife strangled to death in Nageshwari, Kurigram, husband absconding

A housewife mother of three children was strangled to death in Bhitraband union of Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram. As the husband of the victim, Bablu Mia, is absconding, the murder has created a sensation in the area.

This atrocious incident took place in Baniya Vita village of Ward No. 8 of Bhitraband Union on Sunday night. On Monday (January 12) morning, the locals informed the police after seeing the throat slit body of the housewife inside the house.

According to police and local sources, the deceased Mahima Begum (35) is the wife of Bablu Mia, the cousin of Abul Hossain of that area. She is the mother of one daughter and two sons. Among them, he married one son and one daughter. A deep wound of a sharp weapon was found on the neck of the dead body, from which the police feared a premeditated murder.

According to neighbors and relatives, there was no apparent conflict between the husband and wife. They had been in the fish business together for a long time and were living a normal family life.

However, some locals believe that someone else may be involved in this murder. Some have expressed fears that Bablu Mia might also be taken away during the incident or that something might happen to him. However, no information has been confirmed in this regard so far.

Nageshwari police reached the spot after receiving the information and recovered the body and brought it to the police station.

Abdullah Hill Zaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nageshwari police station, said that it was a brutal murder. Who is involved in the incident is being investigated. After postmortem, the body will be sent to the morgue for post-mortem, the case is pending.In this incident, there is grief and panic in the whole area. The local residents demanded that the mystery of the murder be revealed and the arrest of those involved be made soon.
