Independent candidate rescued unconscious in Rangpur
An independent parliamentary candidate named Azizar Rahman was rescued by the police in an unconscious state in Rangpur.
He was rescued from Mordan Mor in the city on Friday (January 16) evening.
Azizar Rahman is a Member of Parliament candidate for Gaibandha-03 (Palashbari-Sadullahpur) Constituency. As the nomination was cancelled, he went to Dhaka to attend the appeal hearing. It is known that he was returning from Dhaka to his home area by bus after getting the nomination returned.
Ataur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tajhat Police Station of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, said that the police reached the spot and rescued Azizar Rahman after receiving information that he was lying unconscious on the road at Mordan intersection on Friday evening. He later regained consciousness.
During interrogation, Azizar Rahman said that he boarded a bus in Dhaka on Thursday night to return home. He was accompanied by an acquaintance. The person fed him eggs on the way. Then he lost consciousness.
The OC also said that Azizar Rahman was rescued and brought to the police station. Since a General Diary (GD) was lodged at Sadulyapur police station about his disappearance,So the police will actually hand him over from there.
