A truck with Indian Phencidil worth Tk 10 lakh was seized at Ngachra in Rangpur

: In a joint operation by Lalmonirhat District Intelligence Branch (DB) and Gangachra Model Police Station in Rangpur, drug dealers fled with a large quantity of Indian banned phencidil in a truck after which the truck with drugs was recovered. During the operation, a truck carrying 885 bottles of Phencidyl and other drugs named Escap and Fairdil was seized.

According to police sources, for a long time an organized gang was using the border area to illegally smuggle these banned drugs from India to Bangladesh. Lalmonirhat District DB Police launched an operation to trace the movement of the truck.
At one stage, when the truck entered Gangachra area of ​​Rangpur district, the truck was seized with the help of Gangachra Model Police Station. After searching the seized truck, a large quantity of phensidyl and other drugs were recovered in a specially concealed form.
Rangpur Additional Superintendent of Police Sharif Mohammad Farukuzzan said that after the Lalmonirhat District Police chase, the truck entered Gangachara area and was arrested with the help of Gangachara Model Police Station. The case of this incident will be registered in Lalmonirhat district and the investigation will be conducted by Gangachra Model Police Station. The estimated market value of recovered drugs is Tk 10 lakh. According to the preliminary investigation, they were being smuggled for supply to different areas of the country. The investigation program has been strengthened to identify and arrest those involved in drug trafficking.
He also said,As part of the government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drugs, operations will continue in border and interior areas. Strict legal action will be taken against all types of drug trafficking including Indian Phencidil in future also.
