The fourth conference of the Progressive Forum USA was held in New York with the vow to build a non-discrimination society, implement the spirit of the liberation war and restore the 1972 constitution. In the conference, Hafizul Haque was re-elected as the president and Zakir Hossain Bachchu as the general secretary, and a new executive committee was formed with 41 members for two years. The former president of the organization and freedom fighter Khorshedul Islam recited the oath to the new committee members.
In the opening speech. Nazrul Islam said, "At present, a fascist regime has been established in Bangladesh, with the resurgence of communal forces. Various efforts are underway to change the socialist, secular and democratic character. The Progressive Forum should continue its united movement against this anti-politics."
President Hafizul Haque presided over the first phase of the conference with the performance of the national anthems of the United States and Bangladesh. A minute's silence was observed in memory of deceased members and dignitaries. New Cultural Secretary Sabina Hai Urbi read the condolence message.
