Dua and Iftar mahfil was held on the occasion of the second anniversary of the national weekly paper ‘Adhunik Sangbad’ published from Dhaka. The event was organized by the National Press Society (NPS), a media and human rights organization approved by the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, on the afternoon of Sunday (8 March 2026), 18 Ramadan, at the Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad Auditorium located on the north side of the Secretariat in Dhaka.

Md. Mahbubul Islam, editor and publisher of ‘Adhunik Sangbad’ and chairman of National Press Society (NPS) presided over the event. Secretary General of the organization Notary Nazir Ahmed conducted the event.

The Vice Chancellor of Mogadishu University of Somalia was present as the chief guest. Md. Asif S. Mizan. Md. Ali Niamat, advisor and senior journalist of the organization gave the opening speech.

At this time, Vice Chairman of the organization Md. Benazir Ahmed Chowdhury, Senior Advocate and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Supreme Court ATM Mahbub Alam, Vice Chairman of Prominent Legal Personality and Jurist Association Dr. Sharif hissed. Besides, World Media Club Secretary General Senior Journalist Md Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan, prominent journalist-columnist Shafiullah Munshi, Dhaka Metropolitan Committee President Md Sohail Rana and General Secretary Mohammad Nurul Alam and other leaders of media and human rights organizations also spoke.

Eminent sports organizer and former footballer Kawsar Hamid was present as a special guest in the event. Editors, publishers, senior journalists of various national daily and weekly newspapers, editors and representatives of various online television and news portals were also present.

In his speech, the chief guest urged the journalist community to work unitedly to prevent corruption in the media. In his speech, the president of the meeting called upon the journalist society of the country to unite and demanded to prevent the torture of journalists and ensure the state facilities for journalists. He said, the journalist community is not a neglected community;The role of journalists in the development of the state is very important. Therefore, he emphasized on the formulation of the Journalist Protection Act and its effective implementation.
