Five Rohingya youth arrested in Cox’s Bazar with weapons

Rapid Action Battalion RAB-15 reported the arrest of 5 Rohingya dacoits with weapons, bullets and sharp weapons in Ukhia of Cox’s Bazar. At this time, their robbery preparations were thwarted, the agency said.
On Wednesday (March 4), Assistant Superintendent of Police and Assistant Director (Law and Media Branch) of RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar. M. Farooq confirmed this. Arrested are — Md. Alam (33), Md. Rashid (44), Syed Alam (29), Noor Kamal (28) and Zaheed Ullah (21). They are all residents of various Rohingya camps in Ukhia and Teknaf.
According to RAB, the operation was conducted on the basis of a tip-off that armed persons had gathered at Abdur Rahman’s rented house in Balukhali Pan Bazaar area of ​​Palongkhali Union of Ukhia at around 9:45 pm on March 3. Five people were caught red-handed when they tried to escape after sensing the presence of RAB in the operation. However, 2-3 people managed to escape in the darkness.

RAB officer A. M. Farooq said that during the initial interrogation, the arrested admitted to be involved in drug trade and robbery in various areas of Ukhia and Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar. A regular case has been filed against them under the relevant section of Arms Act and handed over to Ukhia police station.
