Journalist Jewel Khandkar received the award for Best Investigative Journalism.
He was presented with the award at a felicitation, iftar and prayer ceremony organized by the Bangladesh Human Rights Journalists Association (MASAS) at a restaurant in Comilla on Friday (March 6).
Jewel Khandkar is currently serving as the editor-in-chief of the weekly Deshpatra. Besides, he also has an IP TV channel called Sangbad TV under his management.
He came into the discussion due to highlighting various cases of corruption, irregularities and abuse of power in investigative journalism.
In the past, he has worked as an international correspondent for News 24 TV in several countries including the Maldives.
In his investigative report, the disclosure of primary information about the murder of Major Sinha involved with OC Pradeep in Teknaf and the disclosure of various irregularities related to the former Jubo Mahila League leader Papia are particularly discussed.
It is also known that several cases were filed against him under the Digital Security Act due to the publication of reports on irregularities and corruption in government offices.The guests present on the occasion congratulated Jewel Khandkar for her brave role in investigative journalism and wished her success in the future.
