
40th FOBANA press conference dedicated to Bangabandhu held in New York

A press conference was held on the occasion of the 40th FOBANA convention in New York. The 40th convention of FOBANA will be held in New York. The Federation of Bangladeshi Associations in North America is proud of the expatriate Bangladeshis in North America with the slogan “Chetnaye 71, Hridaye Bangladesh”. The press conference of 40th Fobana was held under the eloquent presentation of Sharmin Sonia Siraj, a powerful reciter and culture person. Among the leaders of Fobana Central Committee and Convening Committee of 40th Convention, Chairman of 40th Fobana Conference, Zakaria Chowdhury, Executive Secretary were present on the stage.
Dewan Moniruzzaman and Host Committee Convenor Nurul Amin Babu and Member Secretary Manjur Quader, Advisory Council Chairman Senior Journalist Hakikul Islam Khokon, Adviser and Magnificent Actress Lutfun Nahar Lata, Chief Convener Abdul Hamid, Host Committee Co-Convenor Subrata Talukdar. Co-Convenor Pinaki Talukder, Chairman of the Seminar Committee and Poet Fakir Ilyas, Chairman of the Entertainment Committee Ali Khabir Chan, Head of the Media Committee Aslam Khan and Shiblu Sadek Shibli etc. It is reported that this year’s convention will be held at the Evangeli Christian Center in Astoria, New York on the coming 4th, 5th and 6th September 2026, Labor Day weekend. Nurul Amin Babu, convener of the host committee of the convention, presented the welcome speech at the meet the press event organized by NRB Association, the organizer of the convention. Manjur Quader, member secretary of the host committee, gave a written speech. Fobana Central Committee Chairman Zakaria Chowdhury, Executive Secretary Dewan Moniruzzaman, Advisor Actress Lutfun Nahar Lata gave greetings and answered the questions of the journalists. Nurul Amin Babu said in his welcome speech that the biggest achievement of Bengalis is independence.liberation war If we can do something by holding that liberation war together, then our next generation will understand and be proud. We all want to make this year’s Phobana a success. I don’t want to know whether I am Hindu or Muslim, I am Bengali by caste. My efforts will be so that my next generation does not forget me.
The main aim of the event is to develop Bengali culture, connect our roots with the new generation, highlight the history of Bangladesh’s great language movement and liberation war, and promote mutual cooperation among expatriates. Fobana Central Committee and Host Committee Co-Convenor, Coordinator, Advisor, Sub-Committee Convenor, Co-Convenor among various leaders spoke. Fobana Host Committee Chief Coordinator Abdul Hamid, Seminar Committee Chairman and Poet Fakir Ilyas, Entertainment Committee Chairman Ali Khabir Chan, Host Committee Co Convener Pinaki Talukder, Shiblu Chadek Shibli. Media Co Committee Head Aslam Khan and others. Convention Chief Patron Shafiq Alam, who was unable to attend due to illness, extended his greetings over the phone. During the question and answer session, the chairman and organizer of Fobana Central Committee Zakaria Chowdhury said that the division of Fobana is mainly based on ideology. We cherish the spirit of the liberation war, we believe in the four principles of Bangabandhu as the architect of the Bangladesh state, the constitution of 1972 and non-communal democratic Bangladesh. Agreeing with a journalist’s question, Chairman Zakaria Chowdhury said – I think Bangabandhu should not be used in Awami League’s political poster. Bangabandhu is the father of Bangladesh. He said, Fobana is a socio-cultural institution. It is also a humanitarian organization. Phobana wants to be with the diaspora and country people in North America and Bangladesh. Fobana is already conducting scholarship programs among talented people.
Dewan Moniruzzaman, who came from Montreal, Canada, said – Our goal is to make the 40th Phobana a success. The biggest goal is not politics.Preserving history. We want to plant history firmly in our new generation. We have history and we want to share it with everyone. In our history, Chhobal has been killed many times, so we want to tell the correct history. Lutfun Nahar Lata said, the child who has given birth to the soil of Bengal is an ambassador, the ambassador of Bengal, wherever he goes in the world. Bangladesh and Bengali have thousands of years of civilization, history, tradition, culture, every thing should be kept bright like the sun. The speaker said – Recognition of International Mother Language Day,Fobana has worked for Bangladesh in various initiatives including the establishment of Ministry of Expatriate Welfare. Speakers invited expatriates living in North America to participate in the three-day event at the 40th convention. At the end, everyone was treated to dinner.
