The administration has launched an eviction drive in Narsingdi's Madhavadi area following a court order to end a long-standing land dispute. The operation started from Tuesday (May 5) morning in Madhavadi police station area.
According to local sources, a legal battle was going on between the two parties over the disputed land for a long time. Recently, when the court gave a verdict in favor of one party, the administration entered the field to implement that verdict. Officials of police, land administration and local administration were present in the operation.
During the eviction drive various structures constructed illegally were removed. Tight security was beefed up in the entire area and extra police were deployed to keep the situation normal, to prevent any untoward incident.
Officials of the administration said that this step has been taken to implement the court's instructions. They also said that everyone has been urged to respect the law to maintain law and order situation and avoid such disputes in the future.
In this regard, the local residents said that there was unrest in the area due to the ongoing dispute for a long time. They expressed hope that the situation will be normalized by the implementation of the court verdict.
