Technical skill enhancement training in fish farming organized by BRAC at Keshavpur

A day-long training was held for fish farmers to improve their technical skills in fish farming at Keshavpur. The day-long training was organized by BRAC Fisheries Enterprise at Cafe Day Light in Keshavpur Municipality. About 60 fishermen from different areas of the upazila participated in the training.
Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Sudip Biswas spoke as the chief guest on Tuesday (05 May-26) under the chairmanship of Kingkar Halder, Regional Sales Manager of South-West region of BRAC Fishery Enterprise.
Rakib Ahmed, Coastal Regional Manager of BRAC Fisheries Enterprise, Delwar Hossain, Senior Sales Officer of BRAC Fisheries Enterprise, Khulna Region, Shamim Akhtar Mukul, President of National Press Society, Media and Human Rights Organization Keshabpur Upazila Branch, Executive Member Sardar Mehdi, Upazila Youth Leader Abdul Gafur were present as special guests.
The speakers said that it is possible to increase the production and increase the profitability of the farm through modern and scientific methods of fish farming. Proper pond preparation, maintenance of water quality, use of high-quality brood stock and balanced feed are possible to achieve higher profits while reducing costs.
Organizers said, under the initiative of BRAC Fisheries Enterprise, such training programs will continue throughout the year in different districts of the country. Which will play an important role in increasing the productivity of fisheries sector and financial development of farmers.
The training provided detailed discussions and hands-on training on pond preparation, water quality control, selection and stocking of quality fry, balanced feed management and prevention and treatment of fish diseases, as well as on the use of modern technologies, such as probiotic application, use of aerators and IT-based water management. In the training, the farmers presented their experiences and problems.Quiz competitions are also organized to ensure active participation of the participants. Finally prizes were distributed to the winners of the quiz competition and certificates were distributed to the participating fishermen. "We will benefit more if this kind of training continues," the participants said.
