Alur Bazar Naval Police outpost has rescued a person who jumped from a passenger launch in Meghna river in Chandpur alive. He was rescued after several hours of operation on Monday morning.
According to naval police sources, a passenger named Suman Shikdar (30) jumped into the river from the M Khan-7 launch bound for Barisal from Dhaka. On receiving the information, a team headed by Police Inspector Pankaj Kumar Devasharma, in-charge of Alur Bazar Naval Police outpost, rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
Suman Shikdar was rescued alive from the river bank with the help of locals in the early morning after a long search. Later he was given first aid and handed over to family members.
