In Paikgacha Upazila of Khulna, there is increasing public concern about the law and order situation and political activities in recent times. Locals complain that Awami League leaders and activists who fled the area earlier are trying to reactivate due to less visible police activity.
Like all over the country after August 5, in Paikgacha upazila, the influential leaders and activists identified as Awami League office bearers, who tortured ordinary students in the 24th student movement, fled the area. This brought relief to the common man. But at present, in the mysterious silence of the Paikgacha police station, some of the Awami League leaders and activists who fled are trying to return to the area and become active again.
Many have returned to the area and are still continuing their Awami politics activities and posting in support of the Awami League on Facebook. Some have returned to the area and become involved in the old business of drugs.
Returning to the area, the incumbent leaders of the Awami League and UP chairmen have started campaigning and running in different quarters to regain power.
Meanwhile Sheikh Ziadul Islam, chairman of Awami League of Gadaipur Union No. 7, has applied to the concerned office to regain power.
Awami League Chairman Mannan Gazi of Soladana Union No. 5 wanted to return to the area and could not enter the area due to the pressure of the local BNP and people's protest march. 9 Chairman of Nongchandkhali Union Parishad, American expatriate Shahzada Abu Ilyas entered his union on May 9. Shahzada Abu Ilyas was the member secretary of Chandkhali Union Farmers League. After August 5, he also left the country and fled to America. Angry student mobs ransacked his house after failing to find him. Entering the area, he gathered the fleeing Awami League leaders and activists in a motorcycle showdown.Visited various institutions and visited graves. Shahzada Chairman Sheikh Hasina family members Sheikh Helal and Sheikh Sohail are very close people. He is still holding the position of member secretary of Union Krishak League. In a video that went viral during the anti-discrimination student movement of the 24th, Shahzada Abu Ilyas, along with Khulna-6 Constituency Member of Parliament Rashiduzzaman Moral and Paikgacha Upazila Awami League leaders and workers, gave a speech in Chandkhali Bazaar - "Chandkhali Union's ground is the stronghold of Awami League, Jamaat-BNP will have no foothold on Chandkhali soil."
The local people and Trinamool BNP Jamaat leaders are fuming with anger as this staunch pro-Awami leader entered the area and dominated.
Locals complain that Shahzada Chairman Paikgacha Police Station entered the area by managing the police. If not, why is the police keeping silent even though the identified influential Awami League leader who tortured ordinary students in the July student movement came to light?
In this situation, the local people to the Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Tariq Rahman and the concerned authorities to keep the law and order situation normal. He called for effective measures to prevent political violence and instability.
