Ancient Vishnu idol recovered in RAB raid in Dinajpur Birganj, arrested 2

An ancient Vishnu idol made of black stone has been recovered in the operation of RAB-13 in Dinajpur's Birganj upazila. Two people have been arrested in this incident.
According to RAB sources, an operation was conducted in the Gobindpur new market area of Shivrampur union of the upazila at around 10:30 pm on Monday, May 11, on the basis of secret information. At that time, the Vishnu idol made of black stone was recovered from a bag by searching Abdur Rauf's fertilizer and pesticide shop.
At that time Md. Abdur Rauf (62) and Gani Mia (54) were arrested by RAB.
The recovered idol is about 16.5 inches in length, 7.5 inches in width and weighs 6.5 kg. Apart from this, two mobile phones have been seized from the spot.During preliminary interrogation by RAB, the arrested persons admitted to collecting the idol for smuggling to the neighboring country. In this incident, a case has been filed under the Antiquities Preservation Act and the accused have been handed over to Birganj police station.
