
In Narsingdi, the businessman was hacked to death by entering the shop and slitting his throat

A businessman named Rafiqul Islam Munsi (45) was hacked and killed by entering a business establishment in Raipura Upazila area of Narsingdi.
The murder took place at the Bhai Bhai store adjacent to the Ganibhanga railway gate in the upazila’s Mirzanagar union at around 9:30 pm yesterday. The deceased Rafiqul Islam Munshi is the son of local Shahraj Khalifa. He dealt in tiles, sanitary and hardware products in the shop.
The family members said that Rafiqul used to close the shop and return home every night between 8:30 and 9:00. However, as he did not return home even after 10 pm on Saturday, the family members tried to contact him on his mobile phone. After getting no response, he went to the shop and found that the shutters were down but not locked. Later, they entered the shop and found Rafiqul’s body lying in a bloody state.
Local people rushed to the screams of the relatives. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot and recovered the body. According to the police, there are marks of injuries of sharp weapons in different parts of the body including the neck of the deceased. The scene was covered in blood.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the police has started the investigation at the spot from Sunday morning.
Local residents said that all the nearby shops were closed at the time of the murder and no one noticed the incident as there was no electricity in the area.
Praveer Kumar Ghosh of Bangladesh Police said,The motive and those involved in the murder are yet to be ascertained. CCTV footage of the incident site and surroundings is being analysed. Efforts are being made to identify those involved and bring them under the law.
