Allegation of cheating in the name of foreign job in Gaibandha: Legal notice against District General Secretary of Public Rights Council
Allegations of money embezzlement, intimidation and political influence have been made against Samiul Islam, general secretary of Ganoadhikar Parishad Gaibandha district branch by luring high paying jobs abroad. A legal notice has been sent through the Gaibandha Judge Court lawyer on behalf of one of the victims in this incident.
According to the notice source, Samiul Islam assured Md. Waheduzzaman, son of Md. Rafiq Sheikh of Kashidah village of Pirgacha upazila of Rangpur district, a job in Saudi Arabia with a salary of Tk 1 lakh 800 per month. It has been alleged that the victim's family fell into this temptation and paid about 5 lakhs step by step.
The complaint said that later the victim was sent to Saudi Arabia, but he did not get the promised job, salary or facilities. Even after staying abroad for a long time, he fell into an inhumane situation as there was no work arrangement.
The victim's family claimed that Samiul Islam used his political identity and influence to threaten various forms of intimidation and lawsuits when they asked for the money back. According to local sources, he is accused of taking money from more than one person in the name of sending it abroad. However, many are afraid to open their mouths publicly.
When the accused Samiul Islam was contacted in this regard, he denied all the allegations. He said, "The allegations are completely false and baseless. These allegations are made to politically corner and defame me. I will take legal action against these smears.
Meanwhile, the legal notice has called for refund and compensation within a specified period. Otherwise, necessary legal action will be taken against allegations of fraud and embezzlement.
