Hotel owner arrested for "rape of female passenger in residential hotel" in Chilmari

Chilmari Model Police Station has arrested a resident hotel owner named Kabir Mia (45) on the charge of raping a female passenger in a hotel in Chilmari, Kurigram. He was arrested last night (Friday) as an accused in a rape case. The incident is reported to have taken place at a residential hotel at Ramna Ferry Ghat junction in Ramna Union of the upazila.
According to the statement of the case, a couple from Char area of ​​Ghughumari of Ulipur Upazila on their way back to their home on Thursday night, came to Ramna Ferighat and stayed at "Anar Koli" residential hotel. According to the complaint, the woman's husband went out to buy food. Then the hotel owner forcibly raped her. Later, when the husband returned, the victim informed him. Attempts were made to resolve the matter locally the next day but failed. Later, when the victim's husband called 999, the police rushed to the scene and rescued the victim, her husband and the baby. After this incident, when a case was filed at the police station, the accused Kabir Miah was arrested by Chilmari Model Police Station last night. Chilmari Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nayan Kumar said, after completing the legal process of the rape case, the accused has been sent to jail through the court.
On the other hand, the locals complain, questions have been raised whether the concerned residential hotel has any valid approval or not. They claimAlthough various complaints have been raised about the hotel in the past, they have been suppressed due to lack of investigation. Locals have demanded a fair investigation into the matter.
