BGB's successful operation at Chanshikari border, 3 smugglers arrested, 124 bottles of drugs and easy bikes seized
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted a successful anti-smuggling and anti-narcotics operation at Chanshikari border of Bholahat Upazila of Chapainawabganj. Apart from arresting 3 drug smugglers during the operation, 124 bottles of Indian narcotic Eskuf syrup, an alternative to Phensidyl, 3 mobile phones and 1 easybike were seized. The estimated seizure value of the seized goods is Rs.4,24,600/- (Four Lakh Twenty Four Thousand Six Hundred).
According to BGB sources, a special patrol team under the leadership of Habildar Md. Kazi Ibrahim of BOP under Mahananda Battalion (59 BGB) conducted this operation at approximately 11:00 a.m. on June 5, 2026, based on its own intelligence information. Smugglers were surrounded and arrested along with their goods at Shikhari village of Bholahat Union, about 1.5 km from Border Pillar 198/2-S inside Bangladesh.
The arrested accused are:
1. Md. Mahabubur Rahman (19), Father- Md. Ranaul, Village- Alalpur.
2. Md Zahidul Islam (19), Father- Md Setaul, Village- Alalpur.
3. Md Sagar Hossain (16), Father- Md Dulal, Village- Hauspur.
Post office of all arrested - Futani Bazar, Thana - Bholahat, District - Chapainawabganj.
Preparations are underway to file a case under the Narcotics and Smuggling Act against the arrested accused. Seized Narcotic Syrup,It has been confirmed by BGB sources that the process of handing over the accused including mobiles and easy bikes to Bholahat police station is underway. It is said that BGB will continue such strict and regular operations to prevent drug and smuggling at the border.
