A young man commits suicide by writing a note in Kurigram due to unemployment

A youth named Abu Kalam (18) committed suicide due to frustration due to unemployment in Ganakapara village adjacent to Suizgate Bazar in Daldalia Union of Ulipur Upazila of Kurigram. Before committing suicide, he wrote a note to his family.
This tragic incident happened on Friday (February 20) at around 1 o’clock in the morning.
Deceased Abu Kalam is the only son of local resident Mohammad Golzar Ali.

According to family sources, Abu Kalam went to sleep at home after dinner like every day. The family members became suspicious when his mother went to call him for sehri at around 3 am and got no response for a long time. Later, with the help of locals, they broke the door of the house and entered, and found him hanging from the rice of the house. He was quickly rescued and brought down, but he died by then. A shadow of grief has descended on the family after losing their only child.

Family and locals claim that the young man was suffering from unemployment and mental stress for a long time. In a note written to his family before his suicide, he mentioned his disability and despair and begged everyone’s forgiveness.

In this regard, the officer in charge (OC) of Ulipur police station, Saeed Ibn Siddique, said that after receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body and brought it to the police station. Preparations are underway to send the body to Kurigram morgue for post-mortem. Initially, it was suspected to be suicide, but the actual cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the post-mortem report.

The local community feels that the frustration of unemployment is becoming a growing social concern for the youth. To prevent such incidents, the family,A concerted effort by society and concerned authorities is required.
