Discussion meeting on the occasion of Iftar Mahfil at National Press Club under the initiative of Bangladesh Ganamukti Party

Topic: World System and State System in Present Reality: Future of Mankind

Md. Pappu Chowdhury: As a result of the progress of science and technology, the basic needs of people such as rice, clothes and shelter have been solved to a large extent. But human life is not limited only to these basic needs. Apart from the physical needs of people, there are also mental, social and cultural needs, which require better social and political systems to fulfill. The question of being satisfied with the world system operated by the United Nations in the present world is unanswerable. Current state systems and international structures are in many cases inadequate for the mutual harmony, justice and cultural development of mankind. Therefore, the need to make the world and the state system more advanced, humane and just is becoming stronger. Religion, democracy, socialism and the conventional concepts of world-humanity play an important role in the development of human civilization, but in the complex reality of the present time, they demand to be thought and evaluated anew. But creative and humane thinking is relatively rare in these matters. Today’s discussion meeting is organized with the aim of creating a better new human future in this reality. In the third decade of the 21st century, the world system is going through a profound change. We are moving from a post-Cold War unipolar world to a multipolar power structure. Economic disparity, technological revolution, climate crisis, geopolitical conflicts, challenges to democracy and human rights issues combine to put global politics and the state system at a critical juncture today. In this context, today’s discussion is very significant in determining the future path of mankind.

1. Changing world order: After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the United States emerged as the single superpower in world politics. The world is now under the sole authority of the United States. As a result, unipolar hegemony has been established in the world system. According to critics,The United States has at various times adopted a policy of military and political intervention aimed at establishing its global hegemony. Conflicts, wars and geopolitical rivalries in various regions, including the Middle East, have destabilized the entire world. The Gaza crisis, the war in Syria, the war in Ukraine and the Taiwan issue and the Iran war prove that power conflicts are still a central element of international politics. At the same time, the balance of power in the world is also changing. China’s rapid economic rise, Russia’s resurgence of military power and India’s growing influence are gradually moving world politics towards a multipolar structure. In this situation, many analysts believe that international institutions need to be reformed to make them more effective and fair. The main purpose of the United Nations, established in 1945 after World War II, was to ensure world peace and cooperation. But in the current reality, many feel that the United Nations is not performing as it should. The UN has become a dysfunctional organization. It is necessary to reorganize the United Nations and establish a new United Nations with the aim of establishing a just, humane and effective global governance. The army should be built under the United Nations instead of keeping the army under any country in the world. Now is the time, the world will face threats if we do not form an alliance with the anti-US Russia, China, North Korea, Iran and India among other equal states. In recent times, the needs of the people around the world, instead of spending money on the destructive military sector, it is necessary to think far-reaching for human welfare. There is no alternative to building a habitable world free of hunger. We want a war free world.

2. The Global Economy and Inequality While globalization has accelerated economic growth, it has not been very successful in reducing inequality. As the income gap between developed and developing countries remains, the rich-poor disparity within the same country is increasing day by day. The International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank and multinational corporations play an important role in determining the course of the global economy. digital economy,The spread of automation and artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the structure of production and employment. As a result of this, new opportunities are created on the one hand, on the other hand, employment uncertainty is also increasing in many cases. In these circumstances the need for inclusive economic development, social justice and humanitarian economic policies is felt more and more.

3. Crisis of state system and challenges of democracy: Democracy is facing various challenges in the present world. The liberal democracy that is going on in the world, including Bangladesh, is only applicable to 10% people. In this liberal democracy 90% people are oppressed, oppressed and exploited. A class of elite oligarchy has developed in the society. In many countries, the credibility of the electoral system, freedom of expression, independence of the judiciary and freedom of the media are being questioned. Authoritarian tendencies are on the rise in some countries, while political polarization has reached extremes elsewhere. As multilateral institutions fail to provide effective solutions to global problems, many states prioritize their own strategic interests. As a result, uncertainty has also been created in the field of international cooperation. Developing democracy, establishing good governance and ensuring genuine public participation is still a major challenge in many developing countries, including Bangladesh. Although independent Bangladesh was established, it has not seen the light of democracy in the last fifty years. The politics and future of Bangladesh is no longer under the control of the people and politicians of Bangladesh. Bangladesh politics is controlled by the Western authoritarian United States. The politics of Bangladesh is going through a terrible crisis today. Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Bangladesh in a fire pit. The interim government was a US-designated NGO civil society government. They acted as agents of the Western authoritarian United States. Did not work for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. Dr. Muhammad Yunus had high expectations of the nation, but he completely failed to fulfill them. Yunus’ greatest achievement is the creation of mob terrorism, which no other country in the world has had this tendency to terrorize. In the last 18 months, ordinary people could not sleep or walk without fear. People couldn’t hold their breath. Now people are relieved. As if there was no freedom of speech at all. The entire nation was in a state of panic due to the fear of mob terror. Now many people are saying that corruption, looting, terrorism, disappearances and murders have occurred during the fascist Awami government, relatively more than that in the last 18 months. People will realize the seeds of civil war that Yunus has sown in Bangladesh after some time. The country needs a harmonious politics free from corruption and revenge.

4. Climate Crisis and Human Future Climate change is one of the greatest existential threats to mankind. Global warming, sea level rise and frequent natural disasters are affecting developing countries especially. Bangladesh is one of the climate vulnerable countries. Coastal areas, agricultural production and water resources may face greater challenges in the future. This is why sustainable development, renewable energy use and environmental justice need to be at the center of international discussions.

5. Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Human Rights The fourth industrial revolution has given a new dimension to the global system. Artificial intelligence, genetic technology and cyber technology have become new instruments of state power. But with this comes new risks. The surveillance state, the cyber security crisis and the question of personal privacy have become important issues today. Whether technology is used for human welfare or as a tool of control and discrimination depends on policy, ethics and international cooperation.

6. The future of mankind

The future of mankind basically depends on three pillars

1. Just global governance

2. Economic Rights and Inclusive Development

3. Freedom of expression, cultural rights, rule of law and environmental protection are crucial for a developing country like Bangladesh to maintain strategic balance, economic diversification, investment in education and technology and regional cooperation. In the current reality, the world and the state system have entered an era of profound change. In the midst of competition and conflict, ways of cooperation and coexistence must be found for the welfare of mankind.
The future of mankind depends on how righteous we are.We can build a humane and sustainable world system on it. Bangladesh Ganamukti Party is working to build a harmonious and developed Bangladesh by establishing politics free from corruption and revenge and implementing the 28 points of universal democracy formulated by Professor Abul Qasem Fazlul Haque. Today’s seminar is not just a discussion; It is an attempt to set a direction for future generations. It will be the responsibility of the political and intellectual society of Bangladesh to present a humane, democratic and progressive political philosophy in the context of global change. We hope that through today’s discussion, new thoughts and directions will be found regarding the goals and actions to build a better future.

thank you
