A storm of protest in Bancharampur demanding a safe environment for women and children, a call to unite against injustice

A massive human chain and protest rally was held in Brahmanbaria’s Bancharampur to protest the rape, torture and brutal killing of women and children. This protest program was organized on the initiative of people from all walks of life in Bancharampur upazila area on Friday afternoon.
People of different classes and professions participated spontaneously with banners and placards in Manabbandhan. At this time, the participants raised slogans in the entire area demanding speedy trial of cases of violence against women and children and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
“Culture of injustice must stop”
Speakers at the gathering expressed deep concern over the alarmingly increasing violence against women and children in the country. They say:
“Those involved in heinous crimes like rape, torture and murder should be brought under the law and the maximum punishment should be ensured. If this culture of impunity is not stopped, such crimes will never decrease from the society.”
Speakers also pointed out that a safe environment for women and children can only be created through effective action by the administration and raising awareness at every level of the society.
A call to the Home and Law Minister and the role of drugs
Expressing deep anger over the brutal rape and murder of child Ramisa in Pallavi of the capital, the speakers told the Home and Law Ministers that the main accused Sohail Rana and his wife should be hanged as soon as possible.
Blaming drugs as the main reason behind these heinous crimes, the speakers said, drug addiction is pushing the society towards destruction. So they demanded the government to follow stricter and zero tolerance policy against drugs.A call to unite against injustice
