Form of Organization: Press Clubs are generally formed as a non-profit voluntary organization. It is usually registered as a welfare society or society under the Society Registration Act, 1860.

​Why not Limited: The main objective of forming a Limited Company is to earn profit and provide benefits to shareholders through business. But the purpose of the Press Club is different—it works to improve the professional standards of journalists, protect freedom of expression and promote the welfare of its members. Hence it does not come under the framework of commercial business.
​Registration: Press clubs in Bangladesh generally receive registration from the Department of Social Services or the relevant registrar office. Its operation is done according to its own constitution (Constitution/By-laws).
Simply put, the Press Club is not a for-profit business, but a non-profit professional organization of journalists. However, in any particular case, if a club wants to buy and sell property on a large scale or undertake a major commercial venture, they may follow legal advice as to whether they can follow a different corporate structure.The club authorities and related lawyers can say it well. In general there is no obligation or custom to be a Press Club Limited.
