May 30 at Birampur, Dinajpur: Discussion meeting and doa mahfil held on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman.

On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of former President (Bir Uttam), known as the great announcer of independence, promoter of multi-party democracy and one of the architects of modern Bangladesh, a discussion meeting and doa mahfil was held at Birampur of Dinajpur on the initiative of upazila and municipal BNP and affiliated organizations. On Saturday (30th May 2026) at 4:30 PM in the afternoon at the party office of Birampur BNP, the leaders and activists of various organs and allied organizations including Upazila and Municipal BNP, Subdal, Chhatra Dal, Swachhasebak Dal, Krishak Dal were present.
At the beginning of the program, a special prayer was held for the soul of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman through the recitation of the Holy Quran. Later, in the discussion meeting, the speakers discussed in detail about the political life of Ziaur Rahman, the role of freedom war, his contribution in running the state and the various programs undertaken for the economic development of the country. The meeting was attended by Upazila BNP President Md Shafikul Alam Mamun, Upazila BNP Vice President Md. Tochadek Hossain Tocha, General Secretary of Upazila BNP Manjur Elahi Chowdhury Rubel, President of Paur BNP. Humayun Kabir, General Secretary of BNP. Upazila and municipal BNP and various level leaders of affiliated organizations including Rezaul Karim Reju.
Ziaur Rahman’s leadership as a statesman emerged in the speech of the speakers
Speakers in the discussion meeting said that after independence, when the country was faced with difficult realities like political instability, economic crisis and famine, Ziaur Rahman encouraged the people on the path of self-reliance, increase in production and national unity. He took initiatives to strengthen the foundation of the country’s development through the development of agriculture, industry, education and infrastructure. Speakers also said that his role in re-establishing multi-party democracy, strengthening local government system, development of rural economy and development of nationalistic spirit is still considered as an important chapter in the political history of the country. The martyred President was remembered in an emotional atmosphere. Even today millions of people remember Ziaur Rahman as a symbol of patriotism, self-sacrifice and development.”

They expressed their determination to build a democratic, prosperous and developed Bangladesh by keeping his ideals. At the end of the special doa mahfil discussion, the soul of the martyred President Ziaur Rahman was prayed for forgiveness, the peace of the country and the nation.Special prayers and prayers are offered for the prosperity and welfare of the people. The leaders, activists and supporters present at this time paid respect to his memory with deep respect.
