Human chain of customers in Kishoreganj demanding transparent leadership in Islami Bank

The customers of Islami Bank formed a human chain in Kishoreganj demanding the establishment of transparent and acceptable leadership in Bangladesh. At the same time, they demanded cancellation of the appointment of bank chairman Khurshid Alam and reinstatement of former managing director (MD) Omar Farooq Khan.
This human chain was held on the initiative of Islami Bank Customer Forum, Kishoreganj district branch in front of Islami Bank Kishoreganj branch office in Barabazar of the city on Tuesday (June 2) morning.
Speakers in the human chain said that Islami Bank was once known as one of the top institutions in the banking sector of the country. However, due to various irregularities and financial corruption, the bank faced crisis. Currently, the company is trying to turn around with the combined efforts of customers, employees and related parties.
Speakers alleged that initiatives were being taken to reintroduce people involved in irregularities and money laundering in the banking sector to key positions, which had caused concern among customers. They claim that if such a decision is implemented, customers’ deposits may be at risk again.
Speakers also said that they have started this movement to protect Islami Bank and protect the interests of customers. They also announced that the movement will continue until Khurshid Alam is removed. At the same time, he urged all the customers of the country to join this movement.
Calling on the government to form human bonds, the speakers said that it is necessary to ensure efficient, acceptable and transparent leadership to maintain the stability and normal operations of Islami Bank. Besides, they demanded that the relevant authorities take effective steps to remove the anxiety and uncertainty created among the customers.
