Hasan Jafir Tuhin is the new chairman of BMDA

Agriculturalist Hasan Jafir Tuhin has been appointed as the chairman of Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) for one year. He is the Central Committee President of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal and a resident of Chatmohar Upazila in Pabna.

The interim government canceled the remaining term of the contract with Awami League’s Akhtar Jahan, who previously held the post of BMDA chairman. At the same time as chairman of BMDA for two years. M. Asaduzzaman was appointed. The post of Chairman Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) is currently vacant after the demise of Dr M Asaduzzaman on 23rd May 2025. Agriculturalist Hasan Jafir Tuhin has been appointed to the vacant post due to his death. A separate notification was issued in this regard by the Ministry of Public Administration on Tuesday. This appointment was given through a notification signed by Md Golam Rabbani, Deputy Secretary of Contracts and Foreign Recruitment Branch of the Public Administration Ministry on Tuesday (May 5).

According to the notification, according to Section-13(2) of the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority Act, 2018, the agriculturist Hasan Zafir Tuhin can be employed in any other profession, business or government, semi-government,Appointed to the post of Chairman for a period of one year from the date of joining, subject to severance of working relationship with private institutions/organizations.
